Raise The Roof Live! took place in Becker, Minnesota this weekend and I really enjoyed attending! Not only was it a fun and friendly show, I also came back with my biggest haul of placings from a show yet. Here is a part of it:
In total, I received 54 ribbons, 15 NAN cards in breed, and 9 NAN cards in collectability/workmanship. Not only that, but four of my horses received division champs/reserve champs. I got some colorful, pretty rosettes with them! You can see them in the gallery below by clicking on the pics to make them bigger:
Headliner, my LE FCM Stone saddlebred, received a 1st in breed and collectability and a NAN card for both, then went on to get a Champion in breed in the Stone Light/Gaited division. Against the beautiful arabians that usually sweep Stone classes, this was a huge deal for me! It is also the first time he has ever actually placed for me. Every other show I've brought him to has resulted in nothing at all, so I'm glad he finally proved himself above and beyond what I expected.
Tripwire, my Django stablemate, won a 1st in breed then a Division Reserve Champion in the all-sizes SR Breyer TB/WB/Sport division. I actually ended up having 5 horses in the callbacks for that division, so I guess I did pretty well! The only horse in that division I had that didn't make it into the callbacks was Acadia, who was up against four other Acadias and some other models. He came 2nd among the Acadias in breed, 4th in the class overall. My Enchante and Haute Couture both came 1st in their respective classes.
The biggest surprise was probably my Fantasia Del C, Rochelle, getting Division Reserve Champion! She has a lot of flaws and truthfully I only bring her along because I've got the class space. I never really expect her to place at all, and she hasn't thus far, but she ended up getting a 1st in breed much to my surprise, and it was even more of a surprise when her name was called when the judge was naming the champs. I'm happy she did well!
And finally, my mini Cameo resin painted by Angelica Nelson, Nocilla, received a 1st in breed, 2nd in workmanship, and then a Division Reserve Champion in the Mini AR/CM division. She was up against my Fausto and Faran, plus others on those resins and a handful of other Spanish and Gaited types. I was super proud! She hadn't placed very well for me yet so getting a double NAN and a big ribbon was a big deal to me. She is one of my favorites in my collection, so seeing her do well overjoys me.
of time talking to some very awesome people. There were so many gorgeous models there, I was overwhelmed! Splitting the Breyer divisions into SR and RR is a great way to run a show in my opinion. It gave the cheaper models a chance to place and the expensive, rare models a chance to show off among others. Both divisions ran their classes at the exact same times so it wasn't hard to keep up with who was in what class at what time.
All in all, I had a great time. There are no other shows in my area that have been announced yet for any time soon so it'll probably be a while before I get to show again. It has been a pretty busy spring for shows for me either way. Last year there was one, this year I've been to three! I hope to keep showing as long as there are shows here to attend. Maybe one of them will be closer than 3 hours away at some point!
So far I'm three for three in getting selected for the Breyer "America The Beautiful" web specials in the Collector's Club this year. I got Rainier and recently sold him, I was chosen for Wailua but decided to pass him on to someone else because I was not a huge fan of him, and then when Acadia was shown I REALLY wanted him - and luckily was picked! These pictures aren't the best, but here he is:
Wolfgang (the 3rd release in the 2017 Stablemate Club) is scheduled to be delivered tomorrow, which is a day too late for me to show him, so I'll be stopping by the post office before I leave to pick him up since they receive him from UPS in the middle of the day for next day delivery. He'll get to show as well, even if just in the nick of time!
This will be my personal blog I'll use to talk about the going-ons of my hobby experience and who knows what else with rambles.
