To think that just last year I participated in my first live model horse show at the 2016 North Star Live in Big Lake, Minnesota. It was the only show that year within driving distance of me. I was almost disappointed that it ended up being so fun, because now I'd have to wait at least another year before getting the chance to show again. I live in a pretty quiet area as far as showing goes. They just don't come up very often around here. And by "around here," I mean within a four hour driving distance. That's how far NSL was, and that's about as far as I'm willing to travel for plastic ponies. No other shows popped up within that distance for the rest of 2016 and I was losing hope.
Not this year, though! 2017 has proved to be a bit of a revival for shows in my area. North Star Live is happening again, of course, but so is Off To The Races Live! and just today another show in the same area as NSL has been announced - Raise The Roof Life! in Becker, Minnesota. I'm ecstatic! The one downside is all of these are within a couple months of each other. OTTRL is just a few days away, then NSL is only three weeks after that, and RTRL will be on June 10th - a little under a month after NSL. After these three, I have no idea when the next show will take place or where (Fargo show, anyone?), but I am certainly glad to see Region 4 get some more shows that aren't in Wisconsin.
In any case, all my ponies are tagged and ready for this Saturday and my next post will hopefully be some show results!
